The Garden Centre Association (GCA), formed in 1966, represents the leading garden centres both in the UK and worldwide as part of its membership of the International Garden Centre Association (IGCA). It asks garden centre members to meet the highest retail standards and participate in an annual inspection process to ensure these standards are maintained and improved.
Commenting on the membership and Merit Award, Iwan Gwyn, Manager of The Woodworks Garden Centre said:
“We are thrilled that Woodworks has not only been accepted for membership by the GCA, but also received a Merit Award!
“The garden construction category is essentially hard landscaping and covers the Zest 4 Leisure section within The Mill display area which features fencing, trellis, timber and sheds and summerhouses. The auditor was extremely impressed by this category including the layout, environment, product, quality and value for money.
“Our Café, indoor lifestyle gift shop and plants area also received excellent feedback.”

The Woodworks Garden Centre, which was established in 2005, is part of the P&A Group and is situated in the heart of the North Wales borderlands. Featuring an award-winning Café which serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, Woodworks offers excellent value for money on a range of quality products and categories, including indoor and outdoor plants, garden furniture, hard landscaping and much more.
In addition, the audit report complimented Woodworks for its cleanliness throughout, product displays and good staff presence.
Concludes Iwan:
“I feel so proud of the entire Woodworks team who have worked extremely hard over this difficult period to achieve the high GCA standards. It is an inspiration for our team to receive the status where we can continue the journey to develop Woodworks into the best destination garden centre in the area, which supports our local community. An absolute pleasure to work alongside people who strive to offer the best customer service possible to each and every one of our customers.
All of the team at the Woodworks has worked really hard to ensure that we offer an excellent service to customers combined with a fantastic and diverse range of products so it’s brilliant that this was recognised in the GCA report.”
