The Woodworks Garden Centre, part of local company P&A Group, recently held a quiz night, raising a fantastic £2,600 for charity. Hosted by established quizmaster Phil Heard, the money, raised from ticket sales and a raffle, is being donated to Dementia UK, P&A Groups chosen charity for 2023.

Commenting ahead of the quiz night, Fiona Coke, Manager of The Woodworks Cafe said:

“We had a great time at the quiz night and having Phil Heard as host made it a really fun evening out. We’re delighted to say that it was a complete sell-out, raising such a significant amount of money for Dementia UK. We wanted to say a huge congratulations to the winning team “Billion Dollar Babies” captained by Jessica Howson, and a huge well done to everyone that took part”

“As well as donating proceeds from the ticket sales to P&A Group’s chosen charity, we had an amazing selection of raffle prizes up for grabs. We also provided a delicious plate of lasagne and salad followed by a cheese board to every ticket holder.

“On behalf of the whole Woodworks team, I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising quiz night and we hope they all enjoyed it as much as we did!”

Dementia UK has specialist dementia nurses – known as Admiral Nurses – who provide support and develop life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Admiral Nurses help families manage complex needs – considering the person living with dementia and the people around them – and they can advise other healthcare professionals. They also help people living with dementia to stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days.

Over the last 12 years, employees of the P&A Group have raised almost £145,000 for a variety of charities including the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Meningitis Now.
